Spiritual Retreats and Worship Workshops.

Since returning to Cape Town it has been awesome being invited to teach and facilitate at various church retreats and Worship Workshops and Conferences. Whilst the retreats have only been predominantly for Men's Groups or Ministries within the ambit of Christian Spiritual Formation and male spirituality, I do also enjoy taking couples. Regarding the Worship Workshops, this can either be for the ministry itself, or a worship-leader specific in-depth practical and spiritual workshop. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss the possibilities of us getting this together for your church!

Spiritual Retreats: These range from single-day retreats to, what tends to happen mostly, those that are given over a weekend. I am able to travel should you wish me to do so.

Worship Workshops: Those that tend to work the best are given over the course of a day. Most churches tend toward that being a Saturday. What we deal with is basically discovering our highest calling and how we best serve God within that given our talents, gifting, and leadership abilities for those who have been called to lead. "The power to bless the world around you is a direct result of your ministry to the Lord" (Gerrit Gustafson). In these workshops we speak into what worship is, our calling within it, the anointing, worshipping in "Spirit and in Truth", and, among other areas, worship and the Presence of God. This normally takes until lunch-time. After lunch we get stuck into the practical side of church worship. This moves from instrumentation, vocal, harmonies, utilization of 'light and shade' in what we do, planning worship sets, best key options, and a host of other areas. I always summarise what we have learnt and mail that through in PDF format to each participant. Should you wish me to attend practices after that, I will gladly do so. I look forward to hearing from you in this regard!

Psalm 90:14 (Complete Jewish Bible)Fill us at day break with your love, that all our days we may sing for joy.”

A man who I have become really close friends with after meeting him whilst I was waiting for a radio interview on a Christian station in Pretoria two years ago, has been communicating with me by phone, sms, and e-mail over the past while. We have witnessed an amazing breakthrough in his situation through our praying without ceasing. I remembered in our conversation today that amazing phrase: Today is the first day of the rest of your life”! We have been meditating on Psalm 90:14 and during this time the following song has been laid on my heart. I am leading worship next Sunday evening and will be sharing it then:

Fill us with Love: Here in Your presence, humbly I bow, Lord let Your glory fall on us now, clothed in splendour, Your light has come, we lift up our eyes to see You all around

Chorus: Fill us with wonder; fill us with Love, glory and majesty sent from above

Fill us with wonder, fill us with Love, we worship You Jesus and give praise to the One

Fill us with Love, fill us with Love.

I have been spending some really deep times in prayer over the past month or so with dear folk I am privileged to counsel, and for the Lord’s guidance and direction in Sally and my ministry. Good men know how to turn the darkest trials into arguments at the throne of grace. He who has but the heart to pray need never be without pleas in prayer.

Often in the morning we pray that the Lord will fill our days with wonder, with love, glory, and majesty sent from above, that all through our day with him we may share whatever comes in our path together.

Being filled with divine love, when the Lord refreshes us with his presence, our joy is indescribable, what a great start to the day!

So, whatever it is that you are carrying, choose today to lay it at the foot of the cross. Do not carry it around with you for another minute. Whether it be unforgiveness, unbelief, guilt, anger, greed, lust, and ingrained sin that you have been carrying around with you and which you go back to every single day of your life, today is day one of your road back to “clean hands”.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Decide that you are not going to be carrying your burden around with you any longer, hand it over to Jesus and, because he cares for you, because he loves you, he will take the load from you.

Let today be the first day of the rest of your life!

Jesus in Matthew 7:11 tells us to pray every day for things we need, when he said: "Give us today our daily bread” and says that we should not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Simply living a day at a time is something that Jesus taught as well. It gives us comfort to know that God takes care of our physical and spiritual needs of today, and if he blessed us with another day, he will take care of those needs as well.
